Transforming the patient experience through AI
Two of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s digital leaders will present their experiences of using Quail (Quality, AI & Learning), an AI-powered tool to analyse patient feedback. Attendees at Rewired 2025 will hear how advanced technology is helping the trust identify patterns in complaints, enabling faster resolution and improving patient care.
Neil Macdonald has been chief executive of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust since January 2019. He has previously held leadership roles at the Healthcare Commission and management positions at Imperial and Guys & St. Thomas’ NHS Trusts.
Neil will be joined by Mitchell Fernandez, deputy chief nurse at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Mitchell joined the NHS in 2002, and is the first Filipino nurse to attain a Band 9 position. Mitchell has worked in a variety of roles, including respiratory nursing, acute assessment, HDU, and more recently, as an infection control nurse.
At Digital Health Rewired 2025, Neil and Mitchell will be presenting their experiences of using Quail (Quality, AI & Learning), an AI-powered tool designed to analyse patient feedback from various unstructured data sources, including complaints, PALS, and incidents.
This presentation will explore the tangible impact of Quail on patient experience, safety, quality improvement and operational efficiency. Attendees will be able to understand the clinical and managerial impact and implications of using AI systems to improve care.
