Vin Diwakar to keynote on Digital Transformation Stage at Rewired
Dr Vin Diwakar, national director of transformation at NHS England, will open day two of Digital Health Rewired 2025 with a keynote address on the nation’s priorities and funding.
He will speak on the Digital Transformation Stage at the event, which is taking place at the NEC in Birmingham on 18-19 March 2025.
The stage, which is sponsored by Microsoft, is focused on showcasing the best examples of how digital is enabling health service transformation at scale in the NHS and internationally.
During his address on 19 March, Diwakar will provide unique insights into how digital will enable the forthcoming NHS 10 year health plan. He will also provide an update of the work of the research, life sciences and innovation working group.
Diwakar is responsible for ensuring NHS staff have access to the digital tools and technologies required to deliver high-quality care. He has publicly stated that fixing the basic digital and data infrastructure of the NHS is critical to improving the quality of care and patient outcomes.
Writing exclusively for Digital Health News, Diwakar has argued that technology has a key part to play in cutting waiting lists and reforming elective care.
Under his direction, the Transformation Directorate will play a key role in driving change and making the plan for a “digital NHS”, outlined in Lord Darzi’s review, a reality.
Other highlights on the Digital Transformation Stage include a deep dive into the digital strategy at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; a spotlight on AI with Dr Jessica Morley, postdoctoral researcher at the Digital Ethics Centre at Yale University; and a session on the successful roll out of NHS-built electronic health records.
Imprivata, Nervecentre, and Graphnet are all sponsoring sessions on the stage.
Diwakar joins other influential figures featured on the Rewired 2025 conference programme, including Prof Phil Wood, chief executive of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust; Alice Webster, chief executive of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS FT; Prof Joe Harrison, chief executive of Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS FT and national director of NHS Digital Channels, and Neil Macdonald, chief executive of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
