Dr Chris Bates

Data scientist and developer, TPP

Dr Chris Bates is a data scientist and developer at TPP. He leads TPP’s work in the use of electronic health record (EHR) data to support analytics and research. He has previously been recognised by the Health Service Journal as one of the top 50 innovators in UK healthcare. Chris is involved in a number of national research programmes, including in cancer survivorship and antimicrobial resistance. He has recent publications in high-impact journals, including Nature, Science, and the Lancet. Chris has recently led TPP’s Covid-19 work on the OpenSAFELY project, in collaboration with the University of Oxford and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
