Rewired 2021 Day Five – key sessions to look out for

Key figures working in artificial intelligence and data within the NHS will be speaking on the fifth and final day of Rewired 2021.

Rewired Day 5

Want to know more about the NHS AI Lab, what Health Data Research UK is up to or what the ‘new normal’ means for digital services in the NHS? Then day five of Digital Health Rewired has what you’re looking for.

Kicking of the morning sessions at 9am we have a keynote from Ming Tang, NHS England’s managing director of data and analytics, and Professor Chis Holmes, the programme director for health and medical science at the Alan Turing Institute.

Sponsored by InterSystems and chaired by Daniel Ray, chief technology officer at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, the AI and Data Summit focuses on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the NHS, it’s benefits and the ethics surrounding the technology.

Attendees can hear from Indra Joshi, director of AI at NHSX, about the work of the NHS AI Lab from 9.55am. Joshi will be followed by several short case studies looking at the use of AI in clinical settings.

Morning sessions also cover the use of data for clinical trials and managing conditions. From 10.50am Caroline Cake, chief executive of Health Data Research UK (HDRUK), will give her keynote before a series of lightning talks on the work undertaken at HDRUK.

There will be a short Q&A and networking break after each session, so you’ll have a chance to learn more from our speakers then.

What’s normal anymore?

The afternoon sessions at day five of Rewired leave AI behind to talk about ‘the new normal’.

As we all know, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way healthcare is delivered – but how much of that is here to stay?

Tune into the New Normal Summit, which is sponsored by Better and chaired by David Walliker, chief digital and partnerships officer at Oxford University Hospitals, to hear first-hand how digital services have been delivered in some areas and what the future looks like.

At 2.25pm Chris Hopson, chief executive of NHS Providers, will deliver his keynote ‘The NHS and digital – where next?’, then at 2.45pm Dr Alan Karthikesalingam, research lead at Google Health UK examine what comes next in the use of health data research.

From 3.15pm a series of case studies will be presented, including one from Jonathan Cameron, the head of digital health and care for the Scottish Government, on the future for Scotland post-Covid.

But that’s not all there is on offer. From 3.55pm Dr Ursula Montgomery, GP and senior clinical advisor on primary care provider transformation at NHS England and Improvement, will update attendees on digital primary care services during Covid-19 and what’s next for the sector.

She will be followed by a series of lightning talks looking at how technology has reached vulnerable patients during the pandemic.

And finally, for the last session of the day delegates will hear from Jordi Piera Jimenez, director of the Digital Health Strategy Office at Catalan Health Service, who will share how Catalonia in January become the first region in Europe to adopt OpenEHR. It will kick off at 4.45pm.

As with the morning sessions, all afternoon sessions will be followed by a short Q&A and networking session, so you’ll have a chance to ask your questions.

The final countdown

The final heat of the Pitchfest competition will be held over lunch on the fifth day of Rewired, with the final four start-ups battling it out to be crowed the winner.

The start-up taking first place will be offered the chance to take part in real-world testing through the CW Innovation programme – run jointly by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and CW+.

Now in its third edition, Pitchfest 2021 is run in partnership with Digitalhealth.London and CW+, the charitable arm of Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
