Ben Bright
Deputy Chief Nursing Information Officer, Somerset NHS FT
Ben is the deputy chief nursing information officer for Somerset Foundation Trust. His role is to support and lead the organisation through digital change advocating best practice and the transformation from analogue to digital. He began his nursing career in 2008 working on surgical and medical wards. He left direct patient care to become a practice facilitator, inducting newly recruited nurses and supporting them throughout the early stages of their career. He joined the digital team as part of the global digital exemplar programme and has now worked within digital for over ten years, initially as a project nurse and progressing to his current role. Since joining the digital team, some of his highlights include the digitisation of patient observations, electronic recording of core nursing assessments and the deployment of a countywide ePMA system. The past year Ben has been working on Interactive care adapting and designing pathways which support ward-based colleagues with an ambition to enhance patient safety through technology advancement. Outside of work and family life, Ben can often be found attempting to master his football skills—proudly holding the title of one of the shortest goalkeepers in the county!
