AI, ethics and environmental sustainability: innovating for the long-term

This session explores how AI can be developed and deployed responsibly to support both ethical healthcare delivery and long-term environmental sustainability. Bringing together perspectives from governance, clinical education, sustainable computing, and industry, the panel will examine the real-world trade-offs between innovation, energy use, and patient outcomes. Discussion will focus on system-wide thinking, the environmental impact of AI infrastructure, and how to ensure trustworthy, secure, and equitable use of AI in healthcare – highlighting what must be prioritised now to deliver sustainable, future-ready health systems.
