Responsible AI: ensuring AI is shaped by the views of the public and staff

As AI becomes embedded in health and care, public and staff trust will determine its success or failure. This session explores how attitudes to AI are evolving, where optimism is uneven across different groups, and what happens when innovation outpaces governance. Drawing on new Health Foundation research and frontline clinical experience, the panel will examine the risks of “shadow AI,” the policy–implementation gap, and what it would take to derail – or secure – long-term support. A practical discussion on building trustworthy, evidence-based AI shaped by those who use and experience it.
