Breid O’Brien
Transformation Consultant and Chair of the External Steering Group, Decide
Breid is currently an independent healthcare consultant and has previously held national and system level roles with her last role being national Director of Digital Health and Innovation an NHS England. She has an extensive healthcare background spanning the NHS, the UK private sector and the Australian healthcare system. With a background as a Registered Nurse specialising in Emergency care, she has since held senior operational management roles in acute healthcare organisations, before moving to system and national level roles relating to large scale change and improvement enabled by technology.
Breid’s main area of interest is the alignment of improvement science and technology to deliver large scale change. Her other area of interest is in the development of a robust evidence base to support and drive this change and ensuring all change improves health equity through a focus on digital inclusion. She currently chairs the Steering Committee for Decide – a 3 year NIHR funded research programme into technology enable remote monitoring, advises software companies working with the NHS, and is a Trustee on the Barnardo’s UK board.
