Dr Martin Farrier is a Consultant Paediatrician and Director of Digital Medicine at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Teaching Hospitals. He is an enthusiast for data in healthcare as a way of building better systems. Some of those systems are about building better care and some are about understanding the outcomes of care. Using the data already available he has been involved in both building better systems and also academic publishing of outcomes from the systems. Those studies involved Virtual Wards and clinics, deteriorating patients and CPAP in COVID. He is excited about the opportunities that data offers healthcare and how it may solve many of the intrenched problems faced by the NHS.
