Max Edward Perry

Sociologist and post-doctoral researcher, University of Edinburgh
Max is a sociologist and post-doctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh. He is currently researching the history of database design and the production of large datasets for healthcare. This work is funded by the UKRI (DARE). Max’s work has hitherto examined medical records and healthcare bureaucracy. His PhD thesis ‘A Social Science of Medical Records’ was completed at the University of Bristol in 2024. Prior to his academic work, Max worked in the NHS in various roles including as a medical records clerk, a clinical data auditor, a business change manager, and a product owner of electronic record systems.
