The Wachter Report in 2016 did much to refocus the NHS on ‘interoperability’ and the potential of digital technologies, but there remains, at the heart of digital transformation, a conflict between knowledge production in the clinic, and digital systems that look to lock clinicians into specific ways of seeing and producing facts. This presentation will present an overview of this conflict, and some of the routes to solving it.
