Rewired Speaker Profile: Joe Harrison, Milton Keynes University Hospital
Joe will be speaking at the Rewired Conference and Exhibition on 26 March about his trust has benefited from online appointments.
Up next in our Rewired speaker profile series is Joe Harrison, the CEO at Milton Keynes University NHS Foundation Trust.
Joe will be speaking at the Rewired Conference and Exhibition on 26 March about his trust has benefited from online appointments – in particular about the MyCare app, which was created in collaboration with Zesty.
We asked Joe why he wanted to speak at Rewired and what attendees can expect.
Why have you chosen to speak to at Rewired?
Technology offers us extraordinary benefits – both as patients and as NHS employees. Using technology more effectively, more efficiently and in some instances, more courageously, can really revolutionise patient experience. We are seeing the benefits of empowering patients through tech – from health care apps in maternity services, through to enabling patients to manage their appointments and correspondence online. Speaking at Rewired gives me the opportunity to talk about what we are doing at MKUH and why – and to hear some of the other great initiatives happening across tech in health and care.
What do they think people attending the event will get from it?
A look and feel of the potential and opportunities tech has to offer the NHS, and an understanding of risk versus reward.
Why should they attend?
There is a fundamental shift in how the NHS is using and planning to use tech. It is a key part of the NHS Long Term Plan and it will be increasingly critical in managing changing patient demand and expectation and a changing workforce demographic. Tech is a ubiquitous part of our everyday lives and it’s vital that we not only keep up, but are ambitious about what tech can offer us in better health outcomes and more efficient ways of providing care and services.
